Day 18 and 19: Driving to La Crosse, Day of Burgers; 1,593 miles
Saturday was not too eventful. I slept in, organized my things, and got ready to leave. JP and I did have breakfast pizza again; I'm really starting to like that stuff. I also packed a sandwich for the road, so I had some lunch.
Getting back on the road, I realized I forgot to get my pin for Milwaukee. Finding something related to WI in pin or button form proved to be a challenge. I found an outlet mall and collection of gas stations, all of which did not have any memorabilia. I even checked a Wal-Mart 5 miles down the road. Nothing.
I decided to stop at one last gas station before getting on the road and to my surprise, they had the perfect WI pin. I was pleased and continued my drive to La Crosse, WI. I am here visiting a friend for a couple of days. Things here are just as he described it, fairly boring.
I learned there isn't a whole lot to do besides eating. Which we did have a couple of meals out at local establishments. The first was Culver's, where we had butterburgers and fries. Later, we went to Rudy's Drive-In and had burgers, chli cheese fries and root beer floats. Both meals were very tasty as well as good contributions to my iron levels.
Last night, we went out to one of the two local gay bars for a drink. Players was all to us on the rainy sunday evening. They have an interesting game you play after you order a drink. You pull a tab from a large glass jar and read the contents that refer to the price of what you pay. I was lucky and drew "50 cents." I just wish I hadn't ordered a well drink. It was still a good deal and fun to hang out.
Since we were up late, we slept in. Now, getting ready to head out for some lunch before doing a little more sight seeing and then on the road again. Today, heading to Minneapolis. I'm so excited.
