Cat pie

Seriously. I'm going to grind up my cat and put her into a meat pie. She likes to wake us all up by yowling her displeasure at being locked out of the bedroom or scratching at the door. And she's not stupid, she knows it pisses us off, because if one of us gets up to squirt her with water or something she's long gone by the time we reach the door. My new tactic has been to throw books at the door. It's sufficiently loud that it usually scares her off for the rest of the night. But I'm still awake and annoyed and it takes me a while to fall back asleep. Hence the cat pie.

Anyhow, the mac n cheese/lobster bisque experiment was a great deal tastier than I'm sure the cat pie would be. I ended up putting about 2/3 c of bisque into the bechamel but it ended up not giving a lot of flavor. Or rather, the flavor was obscured by the cheese. I would say that, if I did it again I'd use way more bisque in the bechamel, but then there wouldn't be enough bisque to eat and that would just make me sad. So I don't know that I'll do it again, but the combo of cheeses - gouda, gryère, and cheddar - was a keeper for sure. And going between bites of mac n cheese and a sip of lobster bisque was surprisingly delicious and complementary, so, even though it didn't work out at expected, I would call the meal a success.

After eating, the four hours of sleep I'd gotten the night before finally caught up with me. We finished watching X-Files season 5 episode Kill Switch and then I announced that I was going to sleep. bostonsappho collected the cat she's been babysitting from under the table (he loves the Pug, but is TERRIFIED of the ceiling fans and must always hide under something) and we bade each other good night. I went through my evening routine, not looking at a clock, thinking it must be somewhere around midnight. I finally slip into bed, thinking I'll read for a little and be out by one, when I finally look at the clock. It's only 10 pm. And I get maybe about 10 min of reading in before I can't keep my eyes open.

So now it's monday and I've a whole glorious week stretching out before me. A week of menial, slightly humiliating, work. God, I can't wait to get out of here.
