BORDONE AND REGENCY

The Bordone bodice is as good as finished, except for this:

*I need more piping cord for the left side bodice and shoulder area

*Small eyes must be sewn to the front, allowing the bodice to be laced up

*Underneath I'm planning on adding a golden modesty panel. I doubt what is seen in the portrait is a corset.

And that's it! Here is the current state of the bodice, worn over a poloneck AND a chemise (kinda bizarre mix, but it was freezing cold):

'tis a quite funky garb. Or will be, anyway. I fear I need to make a new chemise, but I'm not an underwear kind of person. I deal with many different eras, and making the proper underpinnings is such a dreaded task. Bustle, stays, paniers, hip pads, fatingales, corsets... I love seeing others work (many lovely results), but I hate making it myself.

I also need some inspiration from you guys. I am to make a Regency dress for this summer's "Kjæmpestaden" (the costume event in my hometown). I bought a stripy fabric in Oslo, in a sort of marroon/green mix (slightly reminding of the dress in page 183 in the Kyoto book - a quite funky dress, by the way). But I cannot decide on a design! I love the style of the round dresses, but they seem to call for a more flowing material - or are there examples of the opposite? Any links to stripy, "solid" Regency dresses (or maybe borderlining Biedemeyer style) would be most welcome!
