SO BROKE...

May 26, 2011 20:11

OK, here's the deal. A friend of mine in Minnesota is getting married this August, and she has invited me to the wedding. I really want to go, but I'm already so broke, and it'll only get worse this summer... So I decided to sell stuff which might be useful to others, and which might give me SOME money. First out is various fabrics from my stash.

I've described them as best I can; do not hesitate in emailing me if you have further questions. My email is operafantomet (att) hotmail (dot) com.

I write a more-or-less price, but I am of course open to offers, and if you want to buy multiple fabrics I might give you a lower total price. Unless you live in Norway, I prefer payment through PayPal. Sorry for giving metrical measures only, I have dyscalculia and is afraid to screw up if I convert it into inches. I don't want to cheat you!

POMEGRANATE BROCADE - SOLD

A synthetic brocade with arabesque pattern. I originally bought it to make an Eleonora di Toledo dress out of it, but the pattern didn't stand out enough. I tried colouring a corner black to simulate what's seen in the 1545 portrait of Eleonora, but the fabric was somehow still too nice. However, it's a beautiful fabric and would make an awesome underskirt or forepart for Elizabethan style.

There are in total 8,38 meters of it, but the first 0,38 centimeters has black mock pattern. Width is 1,17 meters. I'm asking $70 for this.

FLOWERY COTTON

A solid white cotton with floral print in orange, yellow, olive and black. I originally wanted to make a Mad Men inspired dress of it, but I know I'll never get around too. I have so many "mundane" dress projects floating around. However, it might also make a cool interior fabric. It's rather thick.

There are in total 4 meters, and the width is 1,33 meters. I'm asking $30 for this.

ART DECO INSPIRED VELVET

Art deco inspired velvet, of wine reed, deep emerald green and black nuances, and with a glittering silver pattern. The velvet feels synthetic. I originally bought it for a Phantom costume, but it looked too modern, too... Poirot... Would make a cool Art Deco dress. There is a small tear at the backside, but this is really minor.

There are 2 meters in total, and the width is 1,05 meters. I'm asking $25 for this.

KITSCH....

I don't remember why I bought this, but every time I go through my stash, I'm a bit sad I don't have a project to incorporate it into... Haha. It's funky, in a kitschy way. It has a beige base, with black stripes of... giraffe? On top there's a floral pattern of wine red, purple, green and black nuances. The fabric also has sequins - or rather ironed on sparkly dots - all over. It glitters. A lot. It feels synthetic.

There are in total 1 meter of it, and the width is 1,50 meters. I'm asking $10 for it.

OLIVE TAFFETA

Olive taffeta with imprinted (?) pattern. The fabric is a tad darker and greener than it appears here. I think it's synthetic. I originally planned to use this for sleeves for a Florentine dress, but somehow I never found the right way to use it without destroying the nice imprinted pattern with slashes or too narrow seams. I like this one a lot, but I've had it for 7 years without being able to use it...

There are 1,45 meters in total, and the width is 1 meter. I'm asking $12 for this.

ANTIQUE PINK SILK - SOLD

I assume this is silk, as I got this along with two other fabrics, and the lady who gave them to me said it was silk she had bought in Thailand. The green silk I got was used to make the green Unicorn dress some years ago, but I never found a suitable project for this one. It's an antique pink (almost lilac) silk with a slight wrinkle pattern. It's very soft, and for a while I pondered on whether to make two nice pillows out of it. But I have nothing at home matching that colour, so...

There are 3,20 meters in total, and the width is 1,50 meters. I'm asking $35 for it.

PURPLE DAMASK - SOLD

From the same Thailand batch as above, this was also given to me as silk. It's a damask, with reversible pattern. The colour is a semi-deep purple/burgundy shade, with floral pattern all over. It's also very soft, as the antique pink one above. I planned on using this for a Victorian project, but... yeah, you guessed it, it never happened.

There is 3,75 meters in total, and the width is 1,10 meters. I'm asking $35 for this one too.
