2010 IN COSTUMES

JANUARY

New bodice for the blue Wishing dress. The new bodice is based on the Hamburg Wishing dress I bought off eBay some years ago. The bodice consists of 12 panels, but are cut so the stripes match up and will (hopefully) make the waist appear slimmer. The bodice is still not finished...

FEBRUARY

Elissa costume V02 in making. Tabs made (though not fully decorated), and skirt is in progress.

MARCH

Lots of progress on the Peacock dress. Clipped trim added to skirt and sleeves was probably the most noticeable addition.

APRIL

More progress on the new Elissa skirt. The green skirt alone got a nice turn-of-the-century silhouette, and looked surprisingly cool to my folk costume jacket. But alas, lots of fabric and details was to be added... The pleated hem alone took forever and a day, lots and lots of meters of fabric and trims.

MAY
Lots of progress on the Elissa skirt, nothing to show here...

JUNE

Picked up the Phantom wedding dress again, tried to tackle the sleeves. But... just not clicking with this project, despite nice fabrics and good attempts.

JULY
See May...

AUGUST

Giant backdrape of doom. 10 meters of fabric in total. Challenging, but fun! My grandmother also started embroidering the new Italian camicia, based on one from POF 4.

SEPTEMBER

Giant underskirt of doom made for the Elissa skirt. Lots and lots of black netting! Huge, but very lightweight. Finished it shortly later. Phew. But lots of fun. The last picture shows me wearing it. It wasn't made for me, so it's.... ahem... slightly too short...

OCTOBER

More revamping of the Peacock dress. FInally tackled the upper sleeves!

NOVEMBER

Made an apron and a partlet of a funky fabric I got almost for free. Finally some "whites" for my Italian dresses!

DECEMBER

This was actually a commision. Hard to explain.... But Lucia parades are a common sight in Scandinavia. Combine that with the coco's nest. And you have the costume I was commissioned to make.

whites, wishing, new elissa, peacock, patterns of fashion, camicia
