She doesn't hang up but leaves the phone pointing toward her as she snuggles in a bed that's no longer safe. She shuts her eyes and tries to forget all she's experienced. But she can't shut off her thoughts.
She's read stories from every culture of children tormented and killed. The worst horror is that it's not Vampires killing but humans, too often their own parents. She never thought her own family could be that way but now knows better. She shivers, knowing her mother is just across the hall and she'll never trust her again.
