For canon, I am a fan of Spuffy. I really think she treated him badly for the most. He deserved better than she gave him. He was such a romantic in his heart. She refused to allow that due to her issues and used him as a way to work off her angry at the world. In fan fiction, I try to give him what she never did. Undertanding.
