Fanboy vs Fangirl

My friend spaltor made an awesome post today about the distinction between fangirl and fanboy.

check it out here!Interestingly they diverge on 'passion' (for boys) and 'obsession' (for girls). Oddly, I would have pegged many guys (the ones of TrekBBS, the people who stay up late to make sure no one's wrong on the internet, a guy who left me a scathing ( Read more... )

Hey! Thanks for the shout out. I'm getting a lot of feedback on that post, which is awesome - especially since writing made me so grumpy. ;) My friends Jen & Angela, (the hosts of the podcast) came up with the term "Anomaly" because there didn't seem to be an appropriate existing term to denote a socially functional and sane female fan.

Also, I adore your fic... :)

I wanna be an anomaly too. It's a well written gripe and it really sucks that even in something not respected, like fandom, women are still somehow beneath men?
