We have a squirrel-proof birdfeeder(like this one) which is the same as our old one which finally rusted out. Our old one truly was squirrel proof and so we got this one expecting the same... however these Massachussetts squirrels are smarter, apparently. Or more desperate. We've set up the new birdfeeder off the deck now (finally) and it took only about 2 hours for the birds to find it. Right now there are 4-5 birds coming to it and chasing each other around. Yay!

The red-headed woodpecker came back yesterday. Got a couple of clearer pictures.

We're having a non-raining thunderstorm right now and for some reason, either related or not, the birds are going nuts at our feeder. In the last 10 minutes we've seen three cardinals, two hummingbirds (repeatedly), five bluejays (all at once, but only caught four on camera), chicadees, finches, and a tufted titmouse, and what appears to be a type ( Read more... )
