So the next 10 days are complicated
Dominic is currently with my mom in New Hampshire. Dan and I are going on a cruise that we have had planned for something like 14 months (well before we knew what dates school started) and Dominic starts school on Tuesday. If he didn't have his first week of school next week, we'd be taking him with us on the cruise, but we didn't feel it was appropriate to miss the first week of school.
It would have been simple enough to have my mom come down from NH with Dominic and stay at our house while he started school, but she has a trip out of state planned that she was originally leaving for on Sunday but is now leaving on Saturday because of hurricane Irene*. She'll be gone until Wednesday night. So she's bringing Dominic down here tomorrow, and then Dominic's friend Ben's mom is going to pick him up and he'll stay at their house until Wednesday, at which point my mom will be coming back.
Thursday is the last day of school for the week; they have a four day weekend for Labor Day. So Thursday after school my mom is taking Dominic back up to New Hampshire. We don't even have to go up and pick him up when we get home on Labor Day, because my mom has another trip she's going out of town for, so she'll be bringing Dominic back to Boston that day anyway.
It's rather convoluted, but it is going to work out. Really grateful to Ben's family for agreeing to take Dominic for those days.
*which we'll miss, being on a boat in the Gulf of Mexico at the time it's supposed to land.
