Title: Seize the Night
Pairing: Smoker/Ace
Rating: PG-13
Theme: Meatloaf 24: Seize the Night
Word Count: 100
Ace no longer remembered who it was that first told him to sieze the night. He thinks it must have been a pirate because of the decided difference instead of carpe diem. Night was when dark things took place and if you were a pirate or lover it was the best time to be alive. He doesn't remember who gave him the sound advice, but he takes the words to heart and uses every night to its fullest, be it chasing Blackbeard or running his lips down Smoker's chest until the marine gives into the call of the night.

Smoker stead-fastedly ignored Ace's pleading stare. Ace rarely had anything but that damned grin on his face and Smoker was almost beginning to prefer it. Neverthless, Smoker refused to give into a pirate's selfish demands and continued filing paperwork, determinedly pretending that the room wasn't rising in temperature.
"Stop looking at me like that!" Smoker barked furiously even though the pirate was standing behind him, out of Smoker's line of sight.
Ace laughed, "It's great that you already imagine the pout without me actually having to do anything," and licked the bottom of the marine captain's left ear.
Title: Leniency
Pairing: Smoker/Ace
Rating: PG
Theme: Meatloaf 26: Getting Away With Murder
Word Count: 100
Smoker lets Ace get away with a lot. He lets the brat sneak on and off the ship without slamming the pirate into seastone handcuffs where he belongs. He lets Ace touch him in ways that drive the marine crazier than he wants to admit. And worst of all, Ace cracks holes in his unswerving conscience about pirates and what was right and wrong. Stiil, Ace has never once gone against Smoker's brand of justice and filth like Blackbeard deserve murder.
But when it comes to leeway, Smoker gets away with much more, which is how Smoker likes it.
Title: All the Annoying Things
Pairing: Smoker/Ace
Rating: PG-13
Theme: Meatloaf 27: Dead Ringer For Love
Word Count: 100
There are millions of things about Ace that irritate the hell out of Smoker. Everything about the punk really. Those freckles that make him look ten years youngers, that damn stupid trademark hat, the blasted tattoo emblazoned on the kid's back, the fact that Ace was so much younger than the marine and yet refused to act like it, the way Ace liked to put a little too much teeth into his kisses, and how Ace always managed to get under Smoker's skin: to name a few. But worst of all, Smoker knew it only bugged him out of love.
Title: Guilty
Pairing: Smoker/Ace
Rating: PG-13
Theme: Meatloaf 28: Keep Driving
Word Count: 101
Guilt gnawed at the marine captain like a ravenous wolf. Too much guilt about everything. He should call things off or he should be nicer to the brat if he's going to let him stick around. He should try harder to resist, alternately: he should give in more often. Smoker loathed that marines hadn't saved Alabasta and if it weren't for Straw-Hat the country probably would have been in ruins. He loathed that rather than admit their own incompetency, the brass just tried to ignore it. But so long as Smoker kept driving, maybe he could leave the thoughts behind him.
Title: For Crying Out Loud

"Watch it!" Smoker barked as a spark of light flashed across the dark marine captain's quarters.
"I can't help it," Ace grunted, "It's hard to see from down below your window and when you move things around I trip on stuff."
"Then stop coming!" Smoker readily retorted.
Ace merely snorted at the idea and rolled his eyes.
"For crying out loud," Smoker rolled his own eyes, "You nearly set my desk on fire."
Ace laughed, "Yes that would be a real shame, what with all the paperwork, ne, Taisa?"
"Watch it brat," Smoker glared, briefly thumbing his jitte hilt.
"I'll try to be more careful," Ace sighed resignedly.
Title: If God Could Talk

"Sometimes I wonder . . ." Ace said solemnly before drifing off.
Smoker waited for Ace to finish but when he didn't, growled irritably, "Wonder what?"
"If God could talk would he tell us what we're doing is right or wrong?" Ace mused.
"Does it really matter?" Smoker arched an eyebrow.
Ace merely shrugged.
Sighing, Smoker replied, "You don't care what Whitebeard, the marines, or even I think yet you worry what God might say about it?"
"Why not?" Ace objected.
Smoker lit a cigar, "Would you stop if he told you it was wrong?" Ace shook his head no. "Then it doesn't matter."
