Complacency is the most common illness of the internet age. I know when I get home from work, all I want to do is sit around and read stuff on the internet. For me, it has even replaced the hours of TV I used to watch to relax back in high school.
And you really need to get motivated to do applications. Remember, I went through all the trouble of doing summer sessions just so I could get all my 1st 2 years of studies done at university and take the GRE and MCATs a year earlier than my classmates, which I did. Then I totally crapped out and didn't even send out applications; my rationale at the time was I had been in school since kindergarten, so maybe I would take a year off before embarking on another 4-8 years of study. During that year, I used my degree to get a job, and I realized that I preferred working to school, so I never did get back to those applications. In hindsight, it would have been nice to send those out, get accepted, and then have the option to do a 1 year deferred enrollment.
As for asking for help in person, you should do it, especially when you need it or feel overwhelmed, because you are young, not because it's something "grown ups" do. Once you start working, you'll actually find the opposite -- that most grown ups are competitive and see things as dog-eat-dog, meaning you'll likely have to fend for yourself more often than not. That's why I say milk your youth when people are still willing to help you.
