Hooray, the heat has come on! We have no control over the heat in this place, though it is often comfortable enough. My only issue is that Wiley runs warm, and often needs at the very least to have the bedroom window open, if not a fan running in it, blowing the winter air in!
This makes room insufferable for me, who prefers warmer climes - the only tolerable spot is lodged deeply under the covers!
I checked out a Toyota Sienna for mom at Cosmos Tires today...she was leery of it on the account of the dealer having some pretty shitty reviews. After looking the car over, we determined that the vehicle must have gotten banged up on the passenger side at some point. Too bad, mom really wanted the car to work out. Better safe than sorry!
After learning that a long-term Atkins-ish diet is unsustainable for me, I have recently adopted a diet based upon the research I had heard about in a Talk Of The Nation podcast regarding chimpanzees and the evolution of homo sapiens. The gentleman being interviewed cited a study where mice were given equal portions of food, one given cooked food, the other raw; the mouse given the cooked food became obese. So, now I only eat raw fruits and vegetables, hard-boiled eggs, and lean cooked meats, like fish. I was doing some research on the particular foods I have decided to consume, chosen purely for ease of preparation and my enjoyment of them, and have found that I inadvertently picked quite a healthy, well-rounded, fat-burning, anti-oxidant, blood-sugar managing plan.
Just about every day, I eat apples, cantaloupe, bell peppers, chickpeas, skim milk, romaine, hard-boiled egg, rolled oats, and a little feta cheese. Occasionally I will have a tilapia filet and/or an orange, and often a cup of unsweetened coffee. My appetite has waned so that my portion sizes are respectable, and while I often miss the warmth of food during this cold season, I am never at the mercy of an unfulfilled craving.
I would like to exercise more, and should probably make use of the aerobic workouts on tv. It is too cold for me to run outdoors in good faith, as the air stings my lungs and gives me a hacking cough. If I did exercise more, I am certain the fat would REALLY start to disappear! As it is, I am losing it at a nice healthy pace in a healthy way, and that feels good.
On a less favorable note, my sleep schedule is way out of whack, and I sleep too much as a result.
I don't know what to make of the weird noises in the apartment right now...if we had a cat, they'd make perfect sense, but all we have are heat pipes. I imagine they make the wood floor around them expand a bit when they come on, and that's likely what the noise is from. Old buildings....
Funny how much my attraction to Wiley is affected by where I am in my cycle...I couldn't cuddle the man enough tonight, whereas a few days ago I could barely stand to be touched. Rather unsettling, how powerful those brain chemicals are.
