Intermezzi Seconda: Cinco de Mayo

May 05, 2011 11:45

Ilsa is doing her errands, but today, that means a trip to the grocery and cooking most of the day.

A) Midmorning: You can find Ilsa at the grocery store, either sighing over the lack of tomatillos and chili varieties in the produce section, or in front of the spice rack, muttering about translating the spices. The fact that she was unable to find a turkey in May is compensated by buying two whole chickens. There’s also a good bit of wine and fruit in her shopping cart.

B) Midafternoon: 1490 Kramden Road - Ilsa’s cooking with the windows open again. This time the scents are of multiple spices and chocolate, as she is making Pollo en Mole Rojo. She’s sampling the sangria she made when she first got back to the house, and singing. Anyone who actually speaks Spanish may laugh or wince at the Anglo accent she spins on the lyrics.
