I think Marsbar was reflecting a wider corporate attitude towards the fans of MX generally. Recall the attitude the producer supposedly in charge of 'creativity' who told fans online that if they didn't find some aspect of the show to their liking, they could watch something else. [You remember him. The guy I caught in a lie to the fans.]

This is a strangely perverse attitude in an age where fan feedback has proven valuable to the production and direction of other shows, but...arrogance will get you every time.

Since MX croaked, the Tribune empire has been unraveling quickly. With hindsight, I think it's fair to deduce that the financial pressures were tremendous and that no small number of people were desperately attempting to prop up and maintain their fiefdoms and pretending that the reality of the problems with MX did not exist and that the fans were merely whiney malcontents.

I wish I didn't remember Sethikins. Every post seemed to scream "worship me"… Hated him even more than Marstii, and with what I now suspect he did it would be nice to see him unemployed for quite a while.

This solves my question about Dbwti's sudden departure without reasons given though. He tried to do right by the board.

Sethipoo's insecurities were not subtle. If he had had a shred of sense, he would have been picking our brains, but lacking even a hint of sense, he wanted the worship of people he thought he could push around because he assumed most of us were kids. All the blather about consuming sushi with VW, and actually inserting himself into 'Lazarus Syndrome'...it was so satisfying catching him in that lie, although if I recall correctly, that got me banned (once more...).

I wouldn't be surprised if Sethipoo got the job in the first place because someone was tired of supporting a useless brother-in-law, stepson, etc.

But now, I'm dying with curiosity to know what you suspect he did. The Masonesque backchannels remain available if you don't care to put anything up here.

I don't remember exactly when he started posting on the old board but believe it was not too long before the abrupt removal of Dbwti…

Who were the ones giving Sethy the attention he craved? Mainly the posters obsessed with the cast's looks. Who did Mars support and the expense of others? The posters obsessed with the cast's looks.
What posts did Db try to herd into their own section for the good of the board? The ones about the cast's looks.

Unless I'm wrong about the timing… Take a guess.

Despite all the time I wasted on that board I never got to know any of the hosts, but my impression of Dbwti was of someone who was overworked, underpaid but a decent guy.

I think Sethy had a lot to do with the decay of the series in the second season. Much of what was wrong about episodes almost seemed intended as a slap in the face of thoughtful fans.

I'm sure he had a lot to do with the 'Brennanization' of S2, and the late return of Mason.
