lunar_art “I had a pair of yellow boots when I was little,” Fernando says. Sergio quirks an eyebrow.
“Yeah?”
Fernando laughs. “Yeah. I thought, you know. Flashy boots would make me a better player or something. I begged my mom for them for weeks.”
“Why don’t you still have a pair?”
“Dunno,” Fernando shrugs. “Guess I wanted a different trademark or something.”
Sergio ruffles Fernando’s short hair, still unused to the lack of blonde. “Like yellow hair?” He asks, smirking. Fernando punches him lightly on the arm.
“Like scoring goals, maybe.”
Sergio slides his arm down around Fernando’s shoulders and pulls the striker’s body against his own for the briefest moment, before releasing him and straightening his training jacket. “Let’s go see if you can score a goal on me today, yeah? Betcha can’t do it,” he taunts, standing up and grabbing a ball. He tosses it to Fernando, who juggles it a few times before letting it drop and dribbling at speed towards the goal. Sergio chases him, laughing and yelling, and he makes a halfhearted attempt at a dive when Fernando lets loose a beautiful shot that arcs high and settles in the top corner of the net.
“See, you’ve still got the magic,” he says, picking himself up.
“Yeah, but El Mister doesn’t think so,” Fernando grumbles, jogging over and picking the ball out of the back of the net. Sergio huffs.
“Doesn’t matter,” Sergio tells Fernando, planting one hand on his hip and holding the other out for the ball. “I do. Iker does. Villa does. The whole team does. That’s what matters. We know what you can do. We know what you’ve done already. And it’s a big fucking deal so don’t you dare think otherwise.”
“Yeah? Well then let me see that and make sure everyone knows I can get past Sergio Ramos, right back extraordinaire,” Fernando says, half teasing. Sergio tosses him the ball back.
“You’re on.”
