Touched by an early x'mas gift

As we grow older and well able to afford the things we want, it gets harder and harder to be impressed by gifts. Of course there's the wow factor or moment if it is an expensive gift. But we are not that easily "moved". Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all presents big and small. But nothing like thoughtful gifts. And everyone's too busy for thoughtful presents these days.

It has been a while since I was truly touched by a gift. And I'm beaming right now. I've not smiled to myself the way I did for the longest time.

An old school mate, we were close during uni days, passed me a little present over dinner earlier. It was wrapped and in a plastic bag. As it was a group work dinner, I didn't open it and kept it in my bag instead. Got home, held it in my hands (unwrapped), and I couldn't stop smiling to myself. I knew what it was immediately. Definitely an unexpected thoughtful gift. A box of artist colour pencils. For the jewelry design course that I've finally signed up for. Classes start Jan 2010. She knows I've always wanted to do a design course. Touched and ever grateful. Thanks Jenny.
