All the food looked pretty bad (except maybe the ice cream on the cobbler because it just looked like ice cream).

The writer did go a bit overboard*; at times, they sounded unfamiliar with restaurants/restaurants in Los Angeles. idg being surprised by five types of chicken breast on a menu or different types of cuisine. Villa Blanca's website says "Our stylish restaurant serves Italian, Mediterranean and Asian food". Is it harder to do multiple types of cuisine well? Maybe, but it's not that unusual to try.
