..... really not an expert here but I know a very good web dictionary and it goes for "sportive character" as a translation for Maksim's award? Better ask the Russian _skater's though :)

Yes, you're pretty right about the "sportive character". Maxim received this award because he didn't give up and continued to fight no matter what kind of injuries he had.)
