I snuck onto ONTDP as a break from writing my undergrad dissertation, so this is going to be way shorter than the question deserves. Sorry!

Basically, though, there is a huuuge world of difference between a historically embattled minority group poking fun at something pretty harmless (like dancing) that the group in power does, and the group with all the power, all the money, and all the government representation doing the same thing to a group that has none of those privileges. Really, I don't think anyone's going to lose any sleep over teasing a member of one of the most notoriously clueless, rich white families dancing in a goofy way. Your counter-example of the little boy crying over KFC, though, is different. The stereotype of black people and chicken goes back a long way, and tries to tie people to the image of poverty, obesity, and undereducation by associating a traditional southern food with a shitty fast food chain that itself carries a lot of cultural baggage. I hope you can see how that's a lot worse that "lol, dancing ( ... )
