Oh boy, it's a little complicated, and Ive been telling myself to make a comprehensive tutorial for like a year. LOL. I should get started on that now that Im on "vay-cay".

Here's a very basic run through of how I get my gifs:
  • I save choice youtube vids with aTube Catcher, usually with a .mov file output (because it works best when making gifs from Photoshop).
  • I fire up Adobe Photoshop and select File > Import> Video Frames Layer, which lets you extract gif frames from a video.
  • I save my gif in Photoshop then open it in Adobe Fireworks, where I apply text/borders for the final lulzy version. It all comes down to using layers at that point, which is where it gets complicated and would really require a tutorial with visual screen shots and everything. Haha. I WILL get started on that.

I do my work in InDesign and last year I had to get it and Photoshop and there was a good sale on the Adobe CS4 Design Prenium (typically $1,500 but I got it for about $500 because CS5 was coming out, the recession was on going and CS4 wasn't selling well, and I got the student discount version). So far though, I've only used InDesign. lol.

I bought the InDesign and Photoshop Adobe Classroom in a Book books and it's gone into layers for InDesign but I think the fireworks one is a bit different. I really need to play with all the programs but it saps sooo much of my ram.

Have you played with InDesign do you know if Fireworks is harder or about the same on the layers?

Me and my sis were talking about it. I mean, there's no bells and whistles about him---he just has straight-forward good looks.
