I would actually wear that hat; I thought it was unusually stylish for her. Her voice was not on form, though.

Just because you're old doesn't make you not able to have some substance to your voice. She should have sung that song a whole octave lower.

I'm no singing expert, but it was also twenty friggin' degrees out there.

Even such a hat cannot overcome the combination of adverse conditions that Our Lady Queen of Soul had to contend with on that portico, but Queen she remains (and the hat is still pretty ultimate).

No, probably not, actually. Added weight actually helps singers because of the added support to the diaphragm.
