still don't see how i'm supposed to be more impressed with a guy that never really engaged black folks before september than a woman who takes black folks for granted.

She didn't merely take black people for granted. She helped Bill enact policies which destroyed countless of Black American families. Bernie's record isn't perfect, however, he has a history of supporting Black people. He opposed the welfare-reform law in 1996, for example.

Even TODAY, the Clintons are doing incredibly evil shady shit to black people globally.

yeah, hillary is the worse of the two. i wonder hillary regrets promoting her husbands policies so hard because it's coming back to haunt her now.

It upsets me so much that Bernie voted for that disgusting crime bill. (Where Hillary called black men 'super predators' LMAO) But his response to BLM after Seattle showed me he is willing to listen, learn, and reflect it in policy. Plus, he's done other things that are commendable. Like Jesse Jackson and Pell for Prisoners.

You know, some people just have to see to believe! I was talking to browneyedgirl (sp?) about this in the NH primary post-- how most of Bernie's endorsements are from black or latino people, some who supported Hillary previously-- so, to me, that says that he can definitely win their vote, but I guess not everyone takes it that way. OR, as I am told repeatedly: "anecdotal evidence"

It's such a pop culture throwback that Black Americans just *love* Bill Clinton (and I'm not entirely sure how legitimate that is/was since I only heard it mentioned in stand-up routines) that I got the real sense that Hillary believed she could just sort of inherit the black vote from Bill. So she focused all her awkward pandering on being Abuela~ to get the latin@ vote and being passably "gif-able" to attract the millennials. Not that I particularly want to see a photo op of her eating at a soul food restaurant or something similarly Peak White...

My grandparents basically were Bernie Sanders so he's cool. My parents are another matter though my mom has come to like him. (I think she still prefers Hilary though)

THANK YOU. This post is the most supreme of the most supreme.

Don't get it twisted, Michelle Alexander's article, WHICH I CAN NOT SCREAM ABOUT ENOUGH ON THE INTERNET, did not give some full throated endorsement of Bernie. It was definitely a muted thing, but it was important.

Ta-Nehisi Coates has been publicly critical of Sanders and his response on reparations and he's still voting for him over Clinton.

The Clintons hurt PoC with their policies.

I think people reach to make "critique" equal to "not supporting." But, the truth is, the POC who have been critical of Sanders have done more for his campaign and his message by being critical and pushing him to make sure his platform is inclusive of their struggles as well. I assume, like with all campaigns at this stage, he'll begin to target those areas of his platform even more now. More importantly, after ten months of his relationship to those communities being dragged through the spotlight, it's kinda nice to see Clinton getting equal criticism now.
