Perhaps we could start recruiting more active members over there in their semi-political posts, to try to get this community more active again? :)

I was totally thinkijg along these lines, too. Glad. :) Will probably do that.

No, honestly, it was a needed needed kick in the pants, THANKS for that. Look how it got the ball rolling again. :)

Also, you are now a mod! I just gotta add you to the Mod Comm and you're fully set.

In the meantime you can post without being in the queue, and can now approve posts. I think you will automatically start to receive email alerts for new submissions. In a few weeks you might be upgraded to Maintainer (added duty of ability to ban or unban users), depending on comm activity.
