Service Dog thrown out of Hospital

I actually read about a guy in WA State who has a service snake. He has epilepsy and the snake, who is always around his neck, constricts when he has a seizure coming on. I thought that was pretty neat, having snakes myself who will sense when I am tense and give me a neck massage. Apparently, it was unusual, but legal. (At least according to the article I read.)

trigger warning for mention of animal neglect

Oh man I could get into snake morph talk all day, lol. Right now, I have my ball python plus two rescues who are also ball pythons... though, they will likely get rehomed when my girlfriend omimouse moves out to this state, as I don't have the spoons for the daily handling they need. Their original owner was having severe physical and mental health issues that to my knowledge have not abated, and she let them go 8mo without feeding. The only reason they survived is because they're balls, but it's left both with severe trauma. I just hope this isn't going to cause too much drama; I emailed her about it since it has been coming up on two years this summer, and she never responded, and I sent the e-mail twice and she replied to another one so I strongly doubt that she didn't get it. Fucked up situation all around. *sigh*

Actually at that point the accommodation would be to either move the person with the animal or the patient with the allergy. NOT to ban the animal. Even if the ward is full you can check around for a patient who is NOT allergic and switch them out. It's one thing if it's a store that's not essential, but most of the time someone in a hospital NEEDS to be there. The bar is far higher to remove the animal at a hospital, I'd think.
