I keep saying that re: Neymar jazzypom January 12 2015, 11:37:52 UTC
I did watch the interview (my Spanish isn't good enough to get it word for word- my listening and speaking are dire) but I understood that question! Praise! I tell people that Neymar has some soft skills and they don't believe me. After the drubbing Brazil got, and he came out in the yellow shirt with his teammate's names scribbled all over it and and deflected the criticism (because once he wore that shirt, they couldn't spew anymore hate at the team, you know? Because he visually aligned himself to his teammates- really effective) I thought how savvy he was, and it's him- not his PR people, just him. Then his forgiveness to Zuniga and the hug they did with that Colombian friendly and Neymar was all, it's past and we're good now. Impressive!

With Atletico Madrid, they need the intensity for the game they play (4-4-2), and the type of players that they have. When they keep that intensity in check with the discipline, they come up trumps. But once a player breaks the line (like Garcia and Madz did), the team feeds on itself and then falls apart. It's a real all for one and one for all effort. It's amazing when it works well, and everyone's eyes are on the ball, it's terrible when it doesn't. It didn't help that Messi, Neymar and Suarez seem to be spending time together and wanted to send a message. They saved Enrique's job, but he didn't train THEM- that sort of thing.

Ah, Totti. Some LFC fans are bitter with his fortunes vs Gerrard's at their respective boyhood clubs, but that's another story for another time.

Tadić made me take a second look, yeah, but his time keeping and organisation are shocking. LOL.

Idek about the gossip myself, but it will be bad news for United if De Gea left on a free. No, I can't see Casillas stepping to one side myself. Also, DeGea is an atlético kid - not as vocal with it as Torres has always been, true, but... Real Madrid? I don't want to see it, in truth.

He is incredibly PR-savvy. He knows how to turn things around and have the media eat out of his hand.
Messi and Barcelona seem to often thrive under the pressure/criticism. Especially Messi and Neymar seem to have a strong bond. I thought it was interesting how Messi said that this time the rumours don't come from the Madrid camp but from Barcelona itself (I'm not sure if he was referring to the fans or what).

Regarding Atleti, I don't mind agressive game, but I don't like it when it turns violent and/or dirty. And yesterday it didn't even help them. They seemed lost and desperate. I hope they will not be like that against Real this week!

I don't know much about De Gea's relationship with Atleti, but I think it would be weird if he went to a city rival of his club of, what, 10-13 years (I don't remember exactly) ... I like seeing him in PL.

Oh, and regarding AATLA

Not the fans, but it's well known that the Socios haven't been happy with Barcelona for some time, I think Enrique was the straw that broke the camel's back in that regard.

Dude, Neymar- for someone who came into camp Nou as a rank outsider, especially with the noise around him, it would have been easy for the other players to go against him (especially with the tax situation with Neymar's father, and the orgy that Barcelona allegedly swayed the father with to get his son's signature) but Neymar just had them liking him. I think it helped that Neymar really liked Messi and admired Messi from time.

Neymar and Messi first crossed professional paths when Neymar was at Santos and Barcelona beat them 8-0, iirc

DeGea was a youth player with Atletico- came up through the cantera before being sold to Manchester United. He got the laziness beat out of him, LOL. Ferguson and his trainers told him that if he left United to go back to Spain, there were only two big clubs that he could have gone to (Real Madrid or Barca). They wouldn't stop him, but he had to get a lot better than he was. I think his English coach had to learn Spanish to speak with him, because De Gea didn't even want to learn English.

Gossip (that again!) says that his gf is keen for him to come back to Madrid because she doesn't like England, but eh, we'll see. The PL is a good, competitive league and keeps him whip sharp. United might not be as sexy as Real, but it has an international following that's just as strong - more Asia than the Middle East, true but still... strong. There's a reason why Herrera left a sure thing and run of Champions League with Bilbao to go to Manchester United.
