(Women in) 2013 in Comics
I hope this post is okay - it's more of a yayrade than anything, before the new year sucks all the optimism out of me!
2012 was a bit of a rough year for this comics journalist, what with the threats, abuse, and slander thrown my way for daring to suggest that there was a percieved gender bias in the brand new British Comics Awards. Yeah, they sure showed me. Le sigh.
Anyway, moving onwards and upwards, I started putting together a list of the comics I was most looking forward to in 2013, and whaddaya know, it's looking pretty damn good for women in comics :D Christy Marx, Ann Nocenti, Gail Simone, Becky Cloonan and Kelly Sue DeConnick all have big new books coming out, Marvel are adding three new female led/team books, and there are plenty of great books carrying over. Plus, this is all really just for the first half of 2013 with many more announcements to come (not to mention the indies, webcomics, graphic novels etc).
