"The black community is oblivious to what is going on with this practice," Broden, 58, said about abortion rates in the African-American community.
implies that we are like livestock, shuffling along chewing our cud and allowing the white man to to do what he will to us. Um, fuck that noise. Black women who choose to get abortions do just that - CHOOSE. We're getting abortions in higher numbers because we're disproportionately likely to be poor, single, without access to health care and contraception, jobless, without access to support systems for raising a child and our kids are far more likely to languish in foster care forever. And because the same folks who put this poster up are the most likely to vote against all the things that we need to successfully prevent pregnancy or raise a child.
Don't pretend to care about me and put a beautiful little black girl up on a poster to suit your fucked-up agenda when you can't stand to see my face in your neighborhood any other day of the week.*rage
I just hate how Pastor Borden implies that abortion is a genocidal practice perpetrated through white-owned institutions (health clinics) while ignoring the fact that black women do actively choose to have an abortion for a variety of valid reasons that should be acknowledged and respected

Re: that website: Why hello there vast and inaccurate generalizations about African Americans! (Our primary leaders are clergy members? While the black church is really important, why do we need leaders? Our leaders are the President and the rest of Congress - the same leaders white Americans have, since we do, after all, live in the same fucking country

THIS, SFM. I'm so frelling sick of black people being characterized as idiots who are missing a eugenics based plot.
We can't read! We don't go to school and take history with everyone else!
And you know, that trope of ignorance suits them. Because it also allows them to believe that we don't realize it when they're the ones mistreating us.
I got into a "discussion" on FB yesterday with some folks, where I pointed out several of the points in your 1st paragraph, esp related to access to health care and birth control (which Planned Parenthood tries to do, and PP was the topic of the conversation), and support systems for poor mothers and children, which of course the right is also trying to cut off.
One man made the comment that if women were too stupid to use birth control, then they should just suck it up and deal with getting pregnant but that he didn't want PP providing abortions on his dime (he seemed resistant to the fact that that can't happen because of the Hyde Amendment from 1976).
There was so much wrong about that statement, its arrogance, its faulty assumptions, its downright meanness and ugliness, I wished I could have reached into the internet and bitch slapped him senseless. There was no reasoning with him, either.
What do you say to someone who's so entrenched in attitudes like that? You can't reason with them - their mind is made up.

I completely agree with you.
"This is far from hyperbole, these are facts and statistically back up that abortion is having an impact on the demography of African-Americans"
His statement totally reminds me of some of the arguments and facts presented on websites like these:
