Instead of doing another reading post I wanted to discuss pastiches and non-canon stories. The one I've heard most about is My Dearest Holmes by Rohase Piercy. Has anyone here read it? If so, what do you think of the characterization and such?
I personally have never read any non-canon Holmes stories, but I understand there are quite a few out there. I suppose these could be comparable to published fanfiction (like many Star Trek novels) but fic authors usually don't take great care to imitate the original author's tone.
So, what do you think about pastiches? Weak imitations, or interesting takes on the established SH universe? Any non-canon stories you can recommend?
