American Idol received 10 Emmy award nominations on Thursday morning (July 14), including one for the episode with the homecoming of winner Scotty McCreery. The Fox series was also nominated for reality or reality-competition program while host Ryan Seacrest earned a nod as host for a reality or reality-competition program. The homecoming episode received a nomination in the short-form picture editing category. The series also landed in categories for art direction, directing, lighting, sound editing, sound mixing (in two sub-categories) and technical direction. The Emmys telecast will air Sept. 18 on Fox with host Jane Lynch of Glee.
