Kairi had shut her laptop after she had given her address to Namine. She had only talked to the other girl for a little while, yet she seemed so eager to meet the redhead. Not that Kairi minded much, of course. New friends were always welcome, and she always had a place in her heart for at least one more.
Though she could help but feel something was familiar. Kairi had felt something akin to deja vu when she had read the other girl's name. Namine Matsuda. It really did seem familiar to her, but maybe she was just imagining it. It wouldn't have been the first time she'd done so, that was for sure.
So she waited patiently, her laptop on the empty space of the couch beside her with her new black kitten sleeping on top of it, Reine purring in her lap as she stroked the Abyssinian's long fur, and her wheelchair sitting peacefully nearby in the event that she needed it.
Her mind drifted as she waited, to things like what time of the day Ulquiorra would be coming home, or when Rukia or Mello were going to call and schedule a get-together just to talk and get to know each other better. Personally, she'd love to get to know Renji, too. But knowing Grimmjow... well, that was better left alone.
Looking over when she heard her unnamed kitten mew cutely, Kairi then heard a knock at the door, and she smiled. That must've been Namine. "Just a second," the redhead called as she picked Reine up, and set the now unhappy kitten down next to the black one. "Play nice, you two," she muttered before standing shakily.
Using her right foot more for support than her left (no thanks to Grimmjow), Kairi limped her way to the door and opened it with a smile. "You must be Namine," she said once she saw the girl on the other side, then she shuffled to the side a bit, making room for her to walk in. "Come in."
This was it. This was really it. Hearing the call to wait Namine tried to use the time to calm herself down. But it was all dashed to pieces the second the door was opened.
"Yes. I-I'm Namine. Hello Kairi." She was so nervous she almost corrected the name. But she guessed she already looked crazy enough without saying something like 'who's Namine?'....yeah that was just asking to have a door shut in her face and all credibility denied. She had decided to change her name back for a reason. Minna hadn't been brave enough to do this.
"Thank you" Namine smiled back in spite of the mess that was her thoughts at the moment. She had been raised to be polite after all, and Kairi had been nothing but kind. She walked into the entry way and turned to face the other girl once again.
Oh... They had their differences yes, obviously so. But if Namine had been wearing shorter shoes they would have been the same height, and...there were things about the shape of her face and her eyes that were as familiar as looking in a mirror. She remembered her sister enough to remember her hair was the same red and those eyes couldn't be that common. Adal had always had eyes that made people wonder.
She knew she had to be staring like a fool but there was no denying that there was a possibility this was her. A very large possibility.
"I'm sorry...I just." She didn't even know what to say that wouldn't sound crazy. "I think I might..."
She cut herself off. This was almost silly...she couldn't think of how to put this so she would be believed.
When Namine walked in, Kairi smiled as she closed the door and leaned her hand against the doorframe, taking as much weight as possible off of her feet. "It's nice to meet you," she started, looking over at her before she felt a dull pressure against one of her casts. Glancing down, she saw the black kitten of hers, and she bent to pick it up, then looked back at the blonde. "Though I'm curious as to why you wanted to see me so soon. Is everything all right?"
The redhead really did think that it was some sort of urgent business. It wasn't everyday that someone she had just met wanted to meet her in person so quickly, after all.
Unless, of course, it was some client of hers. But that was a different story.
Once Namine started to speak again, Kairi nodded as she listened with a curious look on her face. And that was when she finally experienced the same 'looking into a mirror' feeling that the other was taking note of. It was strange, to say the least, but everyone has their own twin somewhere out there in the world, right?
But she smiled and gestured to the couch. "Please, sit down. It might be easier to say what it is that you're trying to say if you're sitting, maybe?" Kairi offered as she slowly made her way over to the couch and moved Reine off the laptop before putting it on the coffee table and sitting down.
"Okay." Namine agreed, it might help. It might also help if she could tell the future and see if this was some big mistake. For what she could guess, Adal, her sister, was right here. Right here and alive and...Why was she limping?
"Are you alright?" She asked as she came to sit beside the other girl. She hoped Kairi was well. Even if she wasn't Adal, she was a nice person and Namine felt like they could be friends. Realizing that she was kind of trying to find a way to distract herself Namine began to fiddle with the charm around her neck eyes focused on the fabric of the couch. What was she supposed to say? 'I think you're my long lost twin and is that okay with you?' didn't seem to cut it.
"I wanted to talk to you about...Kairi, I need you to promise you'll just listen to me okay? If I'm wrong then feel free to tell me to go but I... I needed to know." Namine knew she was sort of rambling and she knew it. But this was not something most people dealt with.
Kairi kept the black kitten in her lap and laughed when she was asked if she was all right. "Oh, it's just an injury that should be healed up soon. I guess you could say I'd do anything for my kittens," she responded, giving a little poke to the black one's nose. "That's why I said it's difficult for me to get around easily right now. But in about a week or so, I should be fine."
She tugged her tank top up a little with her still-broken right hand in an attempt to hide the scars on her chest, then let her hand clasp the pendant around her neck--she was suddenly self-conscious about the scars, now that she was thinking about injuries. Besides, at least now, that was all she had to hide. Just the scars on her back and chest. The bruises were long gone, and any coloration that would've given an indication that she had a black eye was gone as well.
She vaguely wondered if having scars would make her lose her appeal to her clients or add to it, if she had a run-in with one of her repeats. ... Ugh, she really needed to stop thinking about that. Especially right now.
Hearing Namine speak again, Kairi smiled, her hand still moving slowly down the fur of the kitten in her lap, then back up to its head, repeating the motion. She noticed how Namine seemed to have the same nervous habit she did--fiddling with her necklace. She wasn't quite sure what hers looked like, but it didn't really matter much at the moment, she figured. "Of course I'll listen to you. What kind of friend would I be if I didn't?" she finally said in a cheery tone.
