WHEN: After Hitsugaya's departure.
She'd said the apartment was ready, so long as he didn't have a lot of stuff. With a single box in his arms, Shuuhei was pretty sure that he was okay in that area. He turned his head to the side and watched as the taxi pulled away from the curve and drove away, leaving Shuuhei alone with his new mission.
That's what it was after all, and Shuuhei held to no illusions of it being otherwise. Agent Matsumoto had been left alone in Vescovo territory. That wasn't how the AMC operated, at least not as far as he was concerned. So it was only logical that someone be sent in Hitsugaya's place to offer back-up.
Still...he was having trouble shaking the thought of how sad she sounded in her voicemail.
He shifted the weight of the box in his arms and cast a subtle glance around as started up the steps of the apartment building. He'd been there once before to help them move in. Shuuhei never dreamed that he'd return for a more...permanent arrangement. He slipped into the elevator and pressed the button that would take her up to her floor. Room 310. Once the doors opened, Shuuhei wasted no time in seeking it out.
His hand instantly reached for the doorknob, but paused before turning it. He didn't really expect her to just leave it unlocked, did he? Even if she did know she was expecting him, she was an agent alone in enemy territory. What's more, she was also a woman. Who knows the kinds of personal, private things they do when they're all alone.
He tried to turn the knob.
Naturally it was locked, and with a heavy sigh the tattoo'd man scolded himself for having those kinds of thoughts in the first place. The box was moved to one arm so that the other hand was free to rap against the door. "It's me." He called out softly. Shuuhei turned his head to either side to check the hallway as he waited.
