To say Kei was nervous was an understatement. No, this young man was half tempted to have the butler of the house go over and get his wig. But no, he wanted to see his friend and appologize for everything. Everything that happened the other night and everything that happened over the past months.

He paused to pay the taxi driver and made his way up the stairs. It seemed like forever since he walked out of the house in pants and a shirt. Nothing girly about his outfit for the day; he didn't want to scare Sawaki any more than he already did. He still wasn't quite prepared when the door opened.

"Hey," he said quietly, feeling like he had been asked into the principals office.

Sawaki looked up at Kei. His friend was virtually unchanged. He was still taller, though not quite as much without those high heeled boots. Still wore that short, choppy cut.
What could have driven Kei to this? Had he snapped after being told he was girly one too many times? He regretted not defending him more often. They'd been inseperable after all...The crazy kid and the girly boy vs. the World.

What had happened?

"Hi. Hold on, i'll get it." He disappeared into the forest of vats and snatched the wig from his room where he'd propped it on a bottle to stare at it. He returned and unceremoniously thrust it at him. There was a pause as pregnant as a frightened teenager buying baby clothes in a musty thrift shop. Sawaki looked away and down.

Kei nodded and took the oportunity to peer into the appartment. Just like he thought, full of brewing vats and no doubt the microbes that did the most of the work. He took a cautious step forward only to have something dark and hairy smacked at his chest. His wig. Right, he came here to get it.

"Uh.. Thanks." Oh could this get more akward?

"Yeah..." Sawaki's gaze went up to Kei's feet, up his body until they were looking awkwardly at each other. "I..." There was so much he wanted to say, so much venting he wanted to do. Firstly he wanted to tell Kei off for dissapearing, making him think something terrible had happened. For decieving him. But the words died on his lips.

The silence was eating away at his insides. "I'm sorry," he said, clutching his wig to his chest. "I.. I didn't.. I mean I... um.."

Sawaki snorted derisively. His face twitched, little battles being fought around dozens of facial muscle.
"Didn't mean to what, Kei? To decieve me? To make me...Do you have any idea how worried I was?!" His voice was barely controlled.

He wanted to tell him that he wanted to tell him from the start. He wanted to tell him the reason why he left. He wanted to tell him everything. He was here and he was listening. That was a good sign, right?

"I'm sorry. Really I am," he said, looking around. He was still in the hallway. "M-maybe we can finish this inside?"

Sawaki opened the door. "Yeah, sure...If you can find anyplace to sit." He looked at his friend with questioning eyes. He was confused and a little hurt and that was just the head on the emobeer. Inside of his chest, a rich stew of relief and dissapointment and other, squishier, more uncomfortable feelings was brewing. "I thought you were...dead. Or hurt or something. Well, Kei? What do you have to say? I understand not telling your parents you suddenly decided to become a transvestite but not telling me whatever your problem was...I thought we were best friends."

"I-it's complicated," he said, choosing to stand beside one of the vats. He knew this talk was going to happen someday. It was just that he wasn't exactly prepared to give any explination (he wasn't going to admit that anytime would be the worst time). Kei took a gulp of air before continuing. "I... I... I'm... I'm gay."

He didnt wait for it to sink in before continuing. "I didn't tell anyone and I was afraid about how you would react and.. and..." Kei trailed off, biting his lip and finding a very interesting spot on the floor. Besides, now wasn't the best of times to confess that he had fallen for his best friend.

"You wha..." Sawaki made a little sound that got partial-birth aborted in his throat. "Ok. Gay. I can live with that. As long as you're alive and ok. Jeez, I thought you always hated it when you got called girly. Anyway..." He looked down. Then over. Then everywhere but Kei as he walked over to him and hugged him around his thin ribs. "...Don't ever do that again." Uh oh. Gay. He'd kissed him. Maybe this hug was a bad idea...

Kei gave a sigh of relief (how long had he been holding his breath?). He didn't care. Thats one down, one more to go..

He was surprised when he felt arms around him, but didn't mind it at all. Instead his arms came around the shorter male and he leaned his forehead against the other's. This was an eerily similar to the position they were in on New Years. Then again Kei didn't mind at all. "I'm sorry," he whispered, gently squeezing the other in his arms. "I won't... I promise..."

Sawaki parted awkwardly from his friend, being careful not to lock eyes with him. It was only a passing strangeness, he was sure. Something Kei had done to complete the illusion. The softness of those painted lips was an illusion. Why right now Kei's lips looked...looked...ok, he could find nothing immediately unkissable about them, but he was sure eventually he would.

"Try some of my latest brew and tell me everything." He said with a big, dorky grin.

He smiled down at his friend. "Sure," he said, feeling alot better than he had in days. Mostly because of that smile... he realized that he missed it. "What are you working on now?"
