It was times like these when Kairi hated how quiet the apartment could get. It would get quiet sometimes when it was just she and Ulquiorra, when there was never anything to say, the kittens filling the silence with their content little purring. That silence, the redhead didn't mind - it was peaceful. The silence that came when Ulquiorra wasn't around wasn't as peaceful, and it just seemed to be made worse when the kittens were asleep like they were. And normally, she'd find a way to occupy her time with her friends, but they seemed to be so few and far between lately. The city seemed... emptier to her lately. Empty and quiet, yet hectic and busy because of recent happenings.

Of course, there wasn't anything she could do about it, and she knew it. That's how it'd always been, really. She couldn't stop homicides or bombings or anything like that, no matter how much she wanted to. It just wasn't possible.

Rinsing off a plate, the sound of the water loud to her ears, Kairi didn't notice the door opening, but her timing couldn't have been more perfect; a second after she shut the water off, she jumped at the sound of the door slamming, and she knew it wasn't Ulquiorra. He didn't slam doors.

Turning around quickly, she'd gotten halfway through a mental scolding for being caught off guard and not having her gun on her before the stranger spoke. Judging from just how casual he was being about the situation, Kairi assumed it was safe to turn her back for just a second to put the plate down safely before she turned back to the stranger with a smile. "No he isn't," she replied, drying her hands off with a towel. "I take it you're a friend of his?"
