WHO: Kairi Russo (
vergessenekind) and Rabi Bookman (
crimson_sorriso), Ulquiorra Schiffer (
sfigato_quarto) later.
WHAT: Kairi's home alone when she gets an unexpected visitor.
WHERE: Ulquiorra's apartment.
WHEN: November 30th; evening (oh hush.)
Kairi practically dragged herself into the kitchen, fingers reaching up to rub at the corner of her eye. With a sigh, she caught sight of the few dishes in the sink and made her way over, leaning her hip sideways against it as she started the water.
She reached up to her ever-present necklace, rubbing her fingers delicately over the quartz crystal. Things had been... pretty awkward lately. Her thoughts had been racing for three days straight about things that had happened. The things she'd been told before that family dinner, Ulquiorra's need to leave during the dinner, and the bomb that had been planted beneath her place of work.
After realizing that an AMC and Vescovo building had been destroyed that night, too, that could only leave either some reformist group or Monacello to blame. Which, of course, could only make Ulquiorra's departure all the more suspicious. There was no doubt in her mind that he had something to do with it all, but she could only hope that he'd been assigned somewhere else other than the tea import shop. Unfortunately, all of the thinking she was doing seemed to give off a sort of... depressed aura around her, mostly because she'd remained quiet. Of course, Ulquiorra was doing his part in avoiding her, too, so she couldn't be fully blamed.
The redhead didn't seem like it, with her personality just brimming with naivety, but she had known what she was getting herself into when she'd first found out (from Grimmjow, no less) Ulquiorra was a Monacello. She'd known that it was dangerous to get close to him, to befriend him and, eventually, live with him. Of course, it was that same naivety that told her that she couldn't discriminate when she'd known him before she found out that bit of information. No matter what her 'parents' had taught her, she couldn't allow herself to do that.
It was exactly why she had thieves for friends, go figure.
Deeming the sink full enough, she turned back to it and turned off the water. At least Ulquiorra was out of the house, she thought as she picked up the washrag and began scrubbing at a plate. Maybe the true peace would give them both a bit of some time to think.
