Sometimes you get shouldered with responsibilities that are too heavy for you to carry. And you have to deal with it, anyway. It's not selfish to want to run away. It's how people are.

i do everything i can to keep them safe. i would trade my life for theirs if i had to. what more can i do. everyone wants me to become something im not. someone else. someone cold and calculating and ... a boss. i cant do that. i cant be that person. but they call me selfish for it.

and i cant find a way to argue.

Who says you have to be that way? Why does it matter, as long as you do your job? You're supposed to be righting wrongs, aren't you, not making more, so why? They don't define you. If you need to, make a new kind of boss. Don't mold yourself to fit what you need to be. Change what you need to be to fit yourself.
