Yes I got to do a interview with Amerie! Thanks to Len her manager and partner!! Last year I did a interview with Trina and this year I got one with Amerie.. I feel so lucky! Read the interview below or at my site
http://www.ohamerie.com OhAmerie : I think it would be great if you ever recorded a track or two in Korean, would you ever consider collaborating with any Asian artists such as Se7en or Rain?
Amerie : I've definitely thought of putting some very Korean flavor into some of my records. I have a few track ideas in my head that have some of those elements within them, but nothing I've actually laid down yet. I'm familiar with the Korean singer, Bi (Rain), and I like what I've heard and seen. I actually spoke to my mother about collaborating with him one day.
OhAmerie : How do you feel when your fans come up to you? How could someone tell if your just "not in the mood" to deal with fans? Craziest thing a fan has done?
Amerie : Thankfully, I've never had anyone do anything really crazy! Everyone is pretty normal when I meet them, so that's cool. I truly appreciate it when people come up and tell me how they appreciate my music, and how they've been affected in some way by it. Music really touches people--I call it the soundtrack to our lives. When we hear a song we haven't heard in a long time, more often than not, it takes us back to some point in our past, some sort of memory. I love meeting my fans, but of course sometimes I may feel self-conscious if I feel like my hair is messy or if I feel out of sorts that day! But I'll pose for a picture anyway, and just hope that it's a digital camera so we can do "do-overs"! Lol!!! :)
OhAmerie : We all know you love The Sims, my question is did you ever kill a Sim while playing?
Amerie : I love playing Sims, but since I started recording my third album, I haven't had a chance to really get to them. But I have had some drama with my Sims! It's like a soap opera in there! I have some normal families, and I have some crazy families full of people who love to cause havoc. I did make one of my Sims a serial killer though; that was the beginning when I wanted to create a haunted house. She was such a nice girl....
OhAmerie : What is the most expensive thing you've bought and ended up regretting?
Amerie : The most expensive thing I bought that I possibly regret was a white gold ring with diamonds everywhere. I don't totally regret it, but I don't wear it much, so if I could do it all over again, I would probably leave it in the store. I tend to do that a lot: buy things that I don't end up wearing!
OhAmerie : How did it feel when you found out you made People's Magazine 100 Most Beautiful People? What was Jean Pierre's reaction? lol
Amerie : Jean-Pierre was so excited about being a part of People's 100 Most Beautiful People! Lol! But seriously, I was very honored, and I think it's different from other "beauty lists" because People magazine also looks at each person's personality as well as their work, not simply their outside appearance. I don't like to put too much emphasis on outer beauty because that's not important and doesn't last, but it felt great to be included!
OhAmerie : If you didn't live in America, what country would you consider living in?
Amerie : I love living in the United States, and for the longest time, I couldn't imagine wanting to live anywhere else, even though I've lived in Germany and Korea. I would definitely need my home base here, but I can now see also living in the UK, or possibly France. But I love the Mediterranean, so maybe Italy or Greece? Basically, I'm totally open!
OhAmerie : You performed alot last summer on tour, has anything embarassing ever happened to you while on stage?
Amerie : Thank God I don't have a horror story of slipping or anything on stage, although I've come pretty close a few times! The thing that scares me sometimes is that once in a while, I may forget a line of one of my songs, which is ridiculous, considering I wrote it! Somehow, though, it manages to happen to me, and I'm convinced that it has something to do with being "on the spot." You know how you can sing every song you know when you're by yourself, but if someone asks you to sing, suddenly you can't remember any of the words? I still get really embarrassed when I sing in front of my friends!
OhAmerie : Since your intrested in the paranormal have you ever encountered a ghost?
Amerie : I'm interested in the paranormal, but I have no desire to meet a ghost. I'm afraid I may meet one and they'll never leave me alone.
OhAmerie : Have you ever done anything musically that you regret?
Amerie : I've never done anything musically that I regret, and I don't intend to do anything that I THINK I'll regret, at least not on purpose!
OhAmerie : Can you cook : Bi bim naeng myon ?
Amerie : I would say that I'm a pretty great cook! I am really into organic foods, so I try to shop at Whole Foods or other health stores as much as I can. My mother cooks lots of traditional Korean dishes, so I've picked up a few things, including learning to cook with only a small amount of oil and butter. She's the best cook in the world! No, seriously! :) One of my favorite dishes is baked salmon, steamed broccoli, and spinach salad. I used to make lots of fettuccini alfredo with shrimp sauteed in chardonnay, but I've learned to eat less pasta (bad for your body in general, not just weight-wise). When I do make pasta, I opt for the whole wheat kind. Of course, all that being said, I still love Doritos and pastries. Oh, and I make the BEST cupcakes!
OhAmerie : After coming back the second time with a smash single and a more mainstream approach how did you feel about Touch's album sales?
Amerie : I love the entire Touch album! It was a lot of fun to make, and creatively, I had a lot to get out of my system. Commercially, I was happy because it did better than the first album, so of course, progress is always great. But I don't create for that reason, I create because I have to. It's just like breathing to me.
OhAmerie : I know you want to be hush hush about the new album but is there anything you want to say about it?
Amerie : Right now I'm in the process of producing and writing my newest album. It's called "...None of the Above." I called it that because I don't like to be categorized or put into a cubby hole, like those little questionaires. I don't think anyone likes to be put into a box, actually. But as people, we tend to do that to each other. It's amazing how much one can accomplish and how much insight one can have when we decide NOT to put ourselves in our own little boxes! I just went into this project feeling really open and free, and didn't worry about anything outside of the creative process itself. I write and record by myself, so it's an extremely intimate process, but I stay in my zone and just live and breathe it the whole way through. I'm a couple songs from being finished, so you can expect it this fall! :)
Finally, I want to tell all my fans and supporters: I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!! And Chris, I love your OhAmerie site! :) Thanks again!
