For most of this year I've been doing "no 'poo" not using traditional shampoo. I've been cleaning my hair with baking soda and water and conditioning with water and vinegar. I don't do those daily. More like 1/week for the vinegar and 1-2/month for the baking soda. My hair and scalp are actually a lot cleaner than they've been in a while. It's also seeming to help my natural curl come through.

I've also been using my own homemade deodorant. Coconut oil, baking soda, cornstarch, and a few drops of tea tree oil. It's actually working. I'm not a delicate flower who never sweats but while I've occasionally had some wetness I've not had any stinkiness (and I'm so worried about it I'm sniffing my pits several times a day to check). We'll see if it continues to work as we head into spring, then summer.

The thrid concoction is coconut oil, olive oil, and some essential oil for scent (lavender) to do oil cleansing for my face. I'm 41 so not stripping my face is a good thing. I'm really liking this. I've not seen dry patches on my skin like I usually do, and I'm not seeing oil slicks either.

The last "recipe" I've tried is homemade laundry detergent. I've only used this once so far but that load came out well. It's missing the overpowering laundry smell but it seems clean. I may do a vinegar fabric softener with essential oils in it to help spring fresh it up.

I tend to try this once in a while. Do a bunch of vaguely hippy things and see what sticks. Some things work for me and some things don't or some times things don't work at this time but they may later.
