Where to start...
Friday, Jenn and I walked the streets and found a great coffee shop to stop at (where I had tea and a veggie burger with avocados, yum) and then took the bus to the art district to make it to the opening night of GirlFest. We were something like an hour and a half late because we ended up having good conversation over dinner and went window shopping after. The shindig looked lame by that point (though the venue--an art gallery--will be a place I'm returning to tonight for an open mic thing) so we walked the block and found another coffee shop/art gallery, the rRed Elephant, where we got more tea and sat around, people-watching. We caught the bus and met up with friends in Waikiki for a street party, where we sat on the beach and smoked and drank and looked at the sky.
I only slept three hours that night.
The next morning, we got up, grabbed breakfast at the bistro down the street, and hopped in the back of Tyler's Northshore-bound manTruck. Tyler (a native of Maui) and Dominic (a Spanish-mouthed Colorado kid) rode in the truck and all the girls rode in the bed.
Jenny-- red-headed Seattle resident, studying Business
Jenn-- my partner in crime, LSU Political Science
Sasha-- Kauai native, half Japanese, Buddhist, bisexual goddess
Alyssa-- Jewish child hailing from Boston, not sure what the hell she's doing here...hah
We stopped at Waimea Bay and goofed around on the beach and Jumping Rock before stopping at the grocery store for fish/steak/bread/smores/beer/wine/chopsticks and then set up camp on this gorgeous beach, where we cooked and had a bonfire and drank and listened to music and had the best time yet. Matt (a friend and licensed personal trainer) took the bus up and the eight of us ran around the beach and jumped in the ocean and all sorts of we're-grown-ups fun stuff. Then we set up a huge pallet of towels and made a spooning train for optimal star-gazing and beach-dreaming. We woke up to a drizzle, loaded the car up, and ate the most amazing breakfast at a little hole in the wall down the street before heading back home. Pictures to follow (probably on facebook later in the week). AhhhH!
