Air Force Basic Military Training

Wow! I did it. I really did it. I left Ohio 9 weeks ago a scared, weak, unmotivated, college drop out. Now I am sitting in the San Antonio International Airport proudly wearing a uniform that represents the worlds greatest air, space, and cyberspace power, preparing to embark on another journey that I can be proud of. 9 weeks ago I couldn't do a single push up, now I can do 30 in under a minute. 9 weeks ago I couldn't run 2 miles. Today I can run it in under 13 minutes. 9 weeks ago I couldn't fit into most of my jeans, now they are all too big. 9 weeks ago I couldn't defend myself, now I dare you to mess with me. 9 weeks ago I was broke, now I make as much as my parents. I have confidence, motivation, discipline, inner strength, pride, and all of it I earned myself though blood sweat and tears. I didn't think I could do it, and the fact that I did makes me feel great. And at the same time I feel humbled. I'm a part of something bigger than me, bigger than my little home town, or college. I represent something important, something that people respect and depend on. People thank me, little kids look up to me. its a very sobering experience. Now on to the next step: Tech School! Woohoo!
