Webcomic, some pages
Obvioulsy, making a comic is difficult. I have the ending and the beginning in hand. Yet, I still don't have the main development, haha... I lack of a lot things in drawing, but learning by making this comic is really more interesting than I expected. I want to work more in inking, storyboarding, and backgrounds, and even painting even if that comic will be in black and white. It's really funny ! I feel like those studies I made months ago were pretty useless because I forgot most of them due to my terrible memory. But now that I have a project, it's easier to learn and I enjoy more it. I really do hope that I will draw it completely and not abandonning it. Well, for the moment, I'm really attached to those characters and their city, so, I will do my best to draw them !
First pages of the comic called "Aslan's diary", I intent to make several of them, as bonus pages to the chapters, I think. Aslan (black hair guy) is still a fresh habitant of the capital, so he has to stick with Lawrence (the scarf guy) and learn things, haha. The main comic is mostly about a slice of life and lot of interactions between the two protagonist and the townspeople. It was supposedly a travel comic, but they are going to stay a lot in the main city in fact... I really like making a city and imagining what the characters would do during their free time haha.
As expected, I don't have skills in comics, haha. I intend to make thinner lines and putting less tones and playing more with black and white. I feel like those pages are "too clean", I want to make something with more hatching and backgrounds that would feel more "alive". It's more a technical problem than anything in fact haha. I have to draw more and do more researches \o/.
Also, I feel very guilty and like cheating while I partially copy and analyze artists' styles. But I think I learned more like that than doing mindless studies.
Drawing and creating a city is really really funny, even if you have to do a lot of researches. Because of course, you want to know how every street look like and what kind of habitants are in it OTL. I wanted at first to put the city on a flat surface. But being influenced by the cities I saw, I like the idea to put stairs and a tram like the one in San Francisco, so it's probably going on a hill. And it's not easy to imagine and draw... But it's fun yes !
It's really great to put everything you like in a story/comic, because it's even more enjoyable ! I hope people will see what I like through that comic haha. So putting a lot of efforts in it and making it looks like what I imagine is my main goal for this comic.
