So I realize than not many of you are choir geeks...and don't freak out half as much about music as me...but i have completely fallen in love with a piece of music we are doing for choir.

It is called Past Life Melody and its supposed to emulate some of the religious monestery-esque throat singing techniques.

Say what you say? throat singing? No, its not REALLY like official throat singing or whatever(which sounds more like a diggeradoo than anything else)...but more of an extension of your speaking voice as opposed to classical singing. This creates a kind of vibration within that causes harmonics to pop out and create new notes and sound kind of creepy and spectacular.

HOWEVER its kind of phenomenally bad for your voice. But DAMN DOES IT SOUND COOL.

so. open your mind guys...and download it. listen particularly to the end because thats when the harmonics pop out. Yeah those weird-ish high notes? NOBODY IS SINGING THOSE.

unfortunately my part in this piece is really ridiculously boring. I don't get to go Yeeeeaaaah or ney ney ney...instead i am one of those weird sustaining low notes....i have a total of two notes throughout the piece. But whatev. I get to listen to the coolness of this song and just chill.

Even if i don't do much in this song, i still get SO MANY chills while singing it. On the music for this where the composer would usually type "joyfully" or "with great vigor" or whatever...it says "sing from the depths of your soul". Something about that is so accurate and wonderful.

Also I think I must hear better out of my right ear. I find myself while listening to this music turning my head so my right ear is facing it instinctively. Weird...never noticed that....i probably do this in choir too....
