The countdown's begin...

We're one week away from the big move.  Tonight is our Holiday Party at the Petroleum Club.  It's totally la-di-da.  Last year, our marketing director (who left in May) planned the whole thing and we had a Christmas Prom at the Marriott.  It was the best company party I'd ever been to!  We wore prom dresses, got awards for creativity, had a great meal and crowned a King and Queen.  It was wonderful!  This year... the GM planned it.  La. Di. Da.  Should be a hoot... not.

I've been working on three fics simultaneously.  One is a nearly-complete Christmas fic for my BtVS Santa group.  The other is the billiard story, tentatively titled Something Money Can't Buy.  And the third is a totally non-Spuffy fic called Lies My Watchers Told Me.  I have issues with writing Spuffy... meaning, in order for me to write the good stuff (the Spuffy stuff to most), I have to take a break and bring back bitchy Buffy.  When I do that, I don't let her have Spike.  I create someone new for him.  Someone who can bash Buffy and love Spike.  And then I go back to the Spuffy love of my other fics.  Plus, I just really feel the need to develop my own characters from time to time.  Does anyone else do this?  Or am I just off my bird a bit?  I got a few reviews on LMWTM and was pleasantly surprised that Heiko and Brunettepet both were encouraging even with the non-Spuffy.  Another reviewer I did not recognize did not like it at all.  I forewarned that it would not be Spuffy.

The premise of LMWTM is that Buffy was never meant to be the Slayer.  She was a Potential, just like the SITS.  But, because Merrick kept his daughter hidden with the glamour, she was called instead of Victoria.  Now, she's needed in the final battle.  And Buffy ain't a happy camper... as her 'Chosen One' status has just been bumped by the light: Victoria and the dark: Spike who are needed to close the Hellmouth once and for all.

I need to wrap up my Christmas fic... can't wait to share it with my LJ friends -- after the recipient gets it, of course!
