Well, I am now officially 23 years, 1 day, 4 hours and 38 minutes breathing on my own. Woot, go me. The party at my dad’s was pretty good. Got to see a bunch of people I hadn’t seen this summer. A little disappointed that most of the people I wanted to see most couldn’t make it or could only stay a little while. Their numbers were made up for by a large amount of people I had previously never met. Most of them turned out to be fairly cool, so we had a good time. But I would have much rather traded them all in and had more of my real friends show up. I felt more like a guest at another person’s party than at a party of my own. Which I guess was ok in the end since I wasn’t top of my social game that day anyway.
My personal favorite was when we piled on the pontoon boat (completely out of gas) and used our one small paddle to row us out into the middle of the lake to swim in the middle of the night. The misquotes were abominable. I incurred over 147 bites (I can’t see to count the one’s on my back). Got to meet my friend Tim’s new boyfriend. I didn’t really believe him about Michael being an underwear model, I guess I always thought it was a brag that “my boyfriend is so hot”, but as it turns out he really is. for a minute I thought Tim had brought Ashton Kutcher to my party. It was odd how much he looked like him...apart from the fact that Michael only has 9 toes and I’m pretty sure Ashton has all ten (not really a big deal I know, but I just find it kinda funny that I had a 9-toed gay underwear model at my party). But I’m really happy to see Tim with someone who he’s truly happy with, they were all cute and cuddly all night, it was great. Part of me was lonely as hell watching them, but at least someone's happy and in love and that was good to see.
The trip home however was probably the most entertaining story. Matt and I were just discussing when we wanted to take off for home considering that a severe thunderstorm was on it’s way, when we got a call from my friend Jamie that her car had broken down. We decide to go rescue her, obviously. We start out, fighting the edge of the storm, and considering that matt’s car is quite possibly the worst car in rain ever this was not all that pleasant. We were just coming to out of the front edge of the storm, almost to clearer skies when we notice that the mile marker #’s were going up rather than down, meaning that we were going the opposite direction of Jamie. We both had assumed that she’d gone towards k-zoo, oops. So we turn around and drive head on though the body of the storm, when all of a sudden Matt’s windshield wipers decide to stop moving entirely. He throws it in neutral and stops and restarts the engine, but to no avail. Amazingly we make it to the exit where Jamie is and still can’t get the wipers to work. Called dad to see if he could come and try to fix it, but he says probably not an that we should just see if we can make it without them...not my most favorite of plans...by pure luck the rain remains slow for the whole trip until we left the storm behind entirely. Woot, we lived.
Now, back to work for a week and a 1/2 until GenCon!! YAY! (and btw, things are looking brighter at work, for those of you who were concerned. Here’s hoping for the best ^_^ )
