I've been having back pains for the past couple of days. This evening, I noticed something significant about them... they're concentrated around my kidneys. This began the raising of the red flags in my mind.
This same thing happened around this time last year. As it turned out, I'd developed a rather serious bladder infection that had spread to my kidneys. Now I'm concerned that it may have returned... with a vengence. Last year I didn't notice what was happening because I was in the middle of the red tide and had thought the pains in my abdomen were just the usual cramps... WRONG!!!
I ended up leaving one of my classes early and missing another class altogether because I had to go to the urgent care. Four hours of excruciating pain and $300 worth of tests later, I was given an antibiotic prescription and everything was right as rain after that.
I remember something odd about the last time I went through this, though. The doctor that gave me the prescription had said that he was giving me a 14-day supply, and that I would take the pills twice a day until they were all gone. Almost any third grade student could tell you that two times 14 equals 28 pills. Well, I didn't get 28 pills; I got 14. I figured the doctor had goofed when he was speaking and had meant to say a seven-day supply instead, especially since my aunt got a similar infection a couple months later and had said she would probably get a 5-7 day supply of antibiotics to take for hers.
Now... not so much. Now I'm thinking that he'd said the right amount, but that he'd written the wrong amount when he wrote out the prescription. This could explain why I've got a bad feeling I'm about to go through that same experience all over again, and why I felt like I should've said something back then when I read the label on the prescription bottle.
