I'm just going to Tours left and right, aren't I? Me and Ryan hit this one again, and we were not disappointed in the least. Metal tours are amazing. Especially talent metal, as I like to call it. Before I say anything else, just let me affirm: Dream Theater and Megadeth are my heroes.
Got there early, as usual, got in the front of the line. Usual fondling occurs, and then we're in. A soon as we're in the gate, we're assaulted with people wanting to sell us stuff. Although, these are cool people selling cool stuff. Like CD's that come with wristbands that allow you to get autographs from the band you bought the CD from. Ryan got a Megadeth one and I got a Dream Theater one. Only problem was that it was a presigned CD (the Dream Theater one) and they were the only band participating not actually doing signings. But I got over it. Ryan got to meet Megadeth later on in the day and get his CD signed. Also got his ticket signed by two members of Symphony X, met Fear Factory and two dudes from Dry Kill Logic. Good day for Ryan.
Back to the beginning. We found our spot on the hill and set up our chairs after buying a 5-dollar-all-day-refillable cup of pop. We got the only shady spot on the hill. Muah. Nevermore was first, and not being a large fan of them, we only listened to a couple songs and then went to stroll around while hiding our lawn chairs under the bridge behind the knob. We then proceeded to get a free pizza from a couple I guess cause they didn't want any more. Was probably drug laced or somethin. But oh well. There were like three slices and I had one. Went and saw Symphony X, who was like an American version of Sonata Arctica (although I think I still like Sonata better). Met Jennifer and Aaron from work on the way there. Symphony X was pretty good, and I did thoroughly enjoy it. Maybe I should DL some stuff from them...
Back to the main stage, Fear Factory was playing and Ryan went off to stand in line for his Megadeth autographs. Fear Factory was pretty good. A little too hard and screamy for my taste in some places, but for those, I just moshed. Found Jennifer and Aaron, who were conveniently right by the pit I wanted to join and asked Jennifer if she'd hold my signed copy of Octavarium. She agreed and I proceeded to kick ass. ^_^
After they finished playing, I just chilled with Rob (who is also from work) and his friend Zack, who I come to find out were pretty bullyish to me in my freshmen year. Kool-aid. Any one remember that? Didn't think so. Forgive and forget though, right? Yeah, thats my motto. So we chilled on the side walk and watched all the people walking by, commenting on the hot girls and such. I think Element has a contract out that makes a whole bunch of hot girls wear their stuff or somethin (bad sentence and terrible humor, I know. Don't interperut it as so, just think of me as a moron who can't express that sentence any other way). Also notable was this pretty attractive girl with nice endowments who was wearing nothing up top but a long sleeve pink fish-net/mesh shirt with little electrical tape X's over her nips. It was "hawt", to say the least.
Next up is non other then the all powerful, all talented Dream Theater. I was blown away. I was head bangin the night away and nearly moved to tears. I know, awesome stuff. When they played Pull Me Under, I was just freakin out. Rah! They're so inspirational. After an hour and a half of their art, I want to go out and start my own band. Anyone interested? I play bass, am novice in skill, and am willing to learn along with the band. I could also attempt lead/backing vocals if so desired. ^_^
After Dream Theater was done, I did much the same thing as the intermission before, but with Ryan instead. Saw the girl in pink walk by again and, due to my hyped up state after Dream Theater, confessed my love to her. Too bad all I got was an embarassed smile in return. lol. At least I got some reaction. ^_^
Finally, the main event. The headliner. Megadeth. They started playing with a bang (literally. I love explosions and fire. FIRE!) and continued as such through out the night. 2 hours later, ears ringing, I was speechless. In awe. Such raw talent only inspired me further and I really need to work out my own talent. I never knew talent rock was so awesome. If you ever get the chance to see either Dream Theater or Megadeth in concert, I suggest you take it. You won't regret it.
We left about half-way through Megadeth's last song that was still thrashing all the way out in the parking lot. We got slightly lost on the way back, due in part to construction. But other then that, uneventful ride back. Ryan stopped in for an Ibuprofin and then left. I went to bed, the experience still rich in my head and ears. All in all, it socked Warped Tour right in the face, and was going for a scrotum shot too, I think, but Warped Tour dodged at the last second and only got nut tapped.
And that my friends, is a concert.
