My lips are burning, but my heart is stirring

Jalapeno pepper jelly is the best thing since ... well, since I tried fried tomatillos yesterday.

I badly wanted to add onion and/or garlic but couldn't find a recipe that included them, and I was already nervous nelly over it all, so no onions or garlic this round. Next time, I'll leave some seeds in to kick it up another notch or two. I didn't strain out the pepper bits nor did I add food coloring, so mine isn't as pretty as those I saw online. But I'm not really into pretty, so it's fine by me, and I like chunky bits and seeds in my jelly.

Guess how easy and fun it is to do canning on a microscopic stove in a kitchen that's not really a kitchen but just a few mircroscopic appliances against a wall with precious little counter space. Yep, wheeeeeee!

The dilly beans I planned on didn't get dillied but got eaten for dinner last night and breakfast this morning. So much for that.

They've apparently started a second farmers' market day here. Tomorrow. Guess who's going to be stocking up on tomatillos, jalapenos and beans. I'm going to be in big trouble. The month's food budget will be shot in less than a week.

farmers' market, cooking, putting food by, canning
