Reinventing a girl and a grandma and a little boy

As part of my Girl Reinvented project, I was going to become this eco-queen--you know, a tree-huggin', composting, simplifying, mud-hut-buildin', rain-water-savin', etc., etc., well, eco-queen. Wanting to be a positive role model controlling, omniscient grandma for Cody, I thought I'd instill in him at least a knowledge of a few of these newest-age eco-correctnesses.

At 5 a.m., while practicing his new vocabulary, WAKE UP![See footnote 1.], and his old, CUP!, I thought we'd work on self-sufficiency. In the greatest detail one can muster in a groggy haze, I instructed him to get the stool[See footnote 2.], use it to turn on the bathroom light, open the bathroom door, proceed to the sink, turn on the water, rinse out his cup, fill his cup. (For brevity's sake, I'm leaving out a great many steps, repeats of steps, clarifications and repeats of clarifications. If only it were as simple as it sounds!)

Footnote 1: I do believe this is the first time he's strung two words together! Go, Cody! Just not at 5 a.m.!

Footnote 2: It's the cutest stool. My parents got it for Jessica when she was about Cody's age. It reads:

eco stuff, cody, education and uneducation
