Yo, tech savvy people! I need ya, and my webzine needs ya...well, your advice, anyway!
I have a question for you all!
Do you think it would be beneficial for my webzine to be on networking sites like Facebook and Twitter?
We already have a MySpace site, and while it has been beneficial as far as making contacts, it is very bare bones and doesn't have

We use it at the Bed and Breakfast I work at. We'll post rate changes, specials, and once in a while something unique (we found a treasure map in the Holly room, we just got a new kitten, the owner loves blueberry pancakes). We use it maybe once a month.
Facebook has TONS of options. You just get to pick and choose which options you want so everyone has different options. What you're probably looking at that seems limited is the bare bones base that you start with.
You can create a regular profile, group profile, or page profile.
I have a group profile for my Japanese group in town, it gives me options to make polls, create events that people can RSVP to, it has a forum, and ability to host pictures and video. I haven't even explored additional options for it yet.
A page is more like a mini website, less interactive. And instead of being "friends" you get "fans" so you don't have to see the status updates of everyone else. We have one of these for the Bed and Breakfast but haven't done much with it yet.
Each of those has options for add-ons. If you look at my profile, http://www.facebook.com/zelliebean, on the left lower side you'll see a list of my most recently posted Notes. You can tag people when you write a note so that they get an alert that tells them they should read it, or you can post the note to your status updates so that everyone getting a feed of your updates can see it.
Below that you'll see "iLike" which is my music application. There are several different music applications floating around, that's just the one I ended up with. It has a bunch of options, I have it set to track the songs that I'm currently playing and put them in a list where other people can listen to them. You can have videos, a music message board, track concerts you've been to/are attending, dedicate songs to people, etc
You can attach a graffiti board for people to draw on or a farm to be watered or just about anything. You pick and choose and then you have some choice about where you want the application to show up on your profile.
