Well, this has been a fairly successful week!

Last night I auditioned for the Oratorio Society of New York, and got in! I made a mess of the sight-reading, but my vocalization went well. I don't think it's a difficult choir to get into, because they don't seem to limit the number of people who can join. I'm so happy to be a part of it. Those assisting at the audition were so sweet, and we perform in freaking Carnegie Hall! Kent, the director, is extremely friendly and reminded me very much of Chris from Parks and Rec. Yes that evel of friendliness. I half expected him to say, "You are literally the best singer I have ever heard" to everyone walking out of their audition.

I'm not sure it would be a great idea to also join the church choir, just for vocal health reasons, but it's just so good and I love church choirs so much regardless of their talent level that I probably won't be able to resist.

Along with the tutoring job, I will be working at Orwasher's, my favorite little bakery. This is a horrible idea for my waistline because everything is free. I went in today for a trial run and came home with Italian cookies, black & white cookies, and a crusty Chardonnay Miche bread. I'll be working Thursday-Saturday from 6:30 AM - 2:00 PM. Since the bakery is a two minute walk from my door, I can't complain about the early start time! I'm glad that it leaves plenty of time to enjoy my Saturday and that I didn't even have to ask to not work Sundays. God is good.

Both of these jobs combined do not pay much, but they do pay enough to alleviate our financial stress and so for that I am very thankful. I think that in a month or so I will start applying for jobs in charter schools. There's one where I would begin as a teaching assistant and eventually become a lead teacher, which sounds like a great fit. It would be more challenging than my position as a para (which was mind-numbingly dull most of the time), and I would learn how to manage a classroom of a more diverse class than the class of seven perfect children I taught last year. We'll see how it goes!

Now to organize our closet with the new closet organizer gadgets we received today while watching som West Wing. I'm giddy with nerdy happiness over how we've been so successful in buying the right pieces to keep our apartment uncluttered and organized!
